    Internal - Responsible for designing marketing plans and materials targeted to the NU community for InNUvation events.
    External - Responsible for promoting InNUvation to greater Chicagoland entrepreneurial community to generate buzz and obtain sponsors.


iVentures10 Entrepreneurial Internship Program

iVentures10 is an innovative internship program that gives students with great ideas for a software/web based start-up company a chance to develop their ideas into working products. Accepted teams receive guidance and capital to help get their company started.

Applied Research Day

Time: February 19, 2009, Location: Technological Institute

Applied Research Day (ARD) returns to do you look for new hidden object pc games the real all new spongebob games Northwestern University Technological Institute on February 19, 2009. Organized by McCormick, Weinberg, Kellogg, and Medill students from the entrepreneurial and innovation club InNUvation, the event will focus on the importance of translational research. More specifically, it seeks to combine the technical expertise of scientific researchers with the entrepreneurial knowledge of aspiring businessmen. For scientific researchers, this is a unique opportunity to learn to present to a non-technical audience and to consider the broader context of taking research beyond the lab bench. For business students, it provides an opportunity to collaborate with actual researchers to create novel business ventures.

 

Cash prizes will be awarded to outstanding poster presenters, and there will be opportunities to meet with venture capitalists. Further, this event provides an opportunity to create collaborations for the InNUvation Venture Challenge later in the spring, where substantial cash prizes provide funding to bring ideas to market. Please consider presenting posters at Applied Research Day. Research that has already been publicly disclosed is appropriate, as is new research.

Sustainable Solutions Now

As part of its 2015 sustainability commitments, the Dow Chemical Company has established the Dow Sustainability Innovation Student Challenge. The Dow Challenge will award three students or student groups at Northwestern University $10,000 for their work to develop innovative approaches to meet human needs while also protecting the environment, promoting economic growth and achieving social welfare, now and into the future.

 

Proposed research projects should be interdisciplinary in nature, blending applied science or engineering with business thinking. Areas of interest include: Sustainable Chemistry, Energy Efficiency/Conservation, Climate Change, Life Cycle Product Safety, Human Health and the Environment, Sustainable Freshwater Supply & Distribution, Environmental Policy Development & Human Behavior Change, Sustainable Infrastructure

International Clean Energy Business Plan Competition (ICE2009)

The Ignite Clean Energy Business Plan Competition ("ICE"), based in Boston and headed into its fifth year, has the purpose of sparking the growing clean energy industry by encouraging and aiding entrepreneurs to develop new cleantech businesses and gain recognition and financing of such businesses. ICE provides start-up companies and entrepreneurs with: resources to develop business skills and business plans, networking opportunities with industry professionals, and a platform to attract attention of possible investors. Additionally, ICE provides the possibility of cash and in-kind awards for competition winners.

 

ICE 2009 begins with submission of business plans by March 17, 2009. Over the next five months competitor teams selected as semi-finalists will work with well-qualified mentors and can participate in a variety of workshops to refine their business plans and presentation. In September, 2009 finalists will be chosen by a pool of industry and venture experts. In November, 2009 all finalists will present their business plans publicly and the judges will select several winners.

If you are interested in participating or simply learning more about ICE, a Team Building event is a great opportunity to network within the industry. ICE is hosting many upcoming Team Building events all across the east coast. Each location will have a different guest speaker(s), but a presentation of the ICE Competition will take place with networking following in order for potential competitors to meet one another and form a team for ICE 2009.

Third Annual National Security Innovation Competition

The Third Annual National Security Innovation Competition (NSIC) for college and graduate students will be sponsored by the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator (CSTI) and the Colorado Homeland Defense Alliance (CHDA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 1, 2009.

 

NSIC 2009 is designed to stimulate interest by students in national security-related innovations and expose novel technologies to a broad audience including industry, academic, and government organizations involved in aerospace, defense, security, and first responder activities.

 

The competition is open to full-time undergraduate or graduate students at any college or university, including students who have graduated in the last six months. The entries must be the original idea and work product of the student/advisor team. Cash scholarship awards will be made to the top three teams in the amounts of: First Prize - $5000, Second Prize - $2500 and Third Prize - $1000. NSIC 2009 is sponsored by the Science & Technology Division of the Department of Homeland Security and hosted by MITRE Corporation's Colorado Springs office.
